Yoga has presented me with interoception before I knew what it meant. It plays a big part in why I keep coming back to my mat. I always feel better after I have practiced. When I tune into the signals my body is sending, greeting the signals, without giving them meaning I shift out of protection (putting my guard up) and into being more open and receptive. It is from this new space that I find growth in these six categories; self-care, body awareness, cognition, embodied cognition, emotional regulation, and social participation. Stretching the mind and the body continues to be a practice I concisely have to choose; it does not come naturally to me. I keep coming back to my mat to grow and find myself.
